Hobbii | Analytics Engineer
Analytics Engineer joining Hobbii to turn complex data into trusted models, shared KPI definitions and clearer business insights across Finance, Product and Tech.
About Hobbii
Hobbii is Denmark's fastest-growing e-commerce company within yarn and handicrafts. From our base in Copenhagen, we've built a global brand serving passionate makers in more than 12 markets – with an ambition to become the world's leading online yarn universe. Driven by scalable technology, creative energy, and data-driven commerce, we're turning our passion for craftsmanship into a global success story.
The Analytics Engineer role is a great opportunity to help turn raw, complex data into trusted, business-ready models that support better decisions across Hobbii.
About the role
As Analytics Engineer, you'll sit at the intersection of Finance, Product, and Tech, helping turn raw data into clear, trusted models the business can actually use. You'll work with SQL, our warehouse environment, Metabase, and our Cube semantic layer, supporting consistent KPI logic for metrics like AOV, CLV, and Margin across dashboards, analysis, and business conversations.
You’ll collaborate with Finance and other business stakeholders, ask good questions, and help create a culture where people can use data with more confidence.
Key responsibilities
• Build and maintain structured SQL models so downstream users get cleaner and more reliable data
• Work with our Cube semantic layer and help maintain shared KPI definitions such as AOV, CLV, and Margin
• Collaborate with Finance and help connect warehouse data to business and reporting logic
• Build useful Metabase dashboards and use tools such as Python, Marimo, Claude, or MCP where they help answer business questions
• Contribute to the Data Dictionary so non-technical users understand what they are measuring and can explore data with confidence
Your profile
You’re curious, structured, and enjoy making data genuinely useful for the people around you. You’re comfortable working with both technical colleagues and business stakeholders, and you care about accuracy and clarity in equal measure. You don’t need to have all the answers – but you ask good questions and follow through.
We imagine you bring:
• A strong SQL foundation and some hands-on experience building structured data models
• Experience with a modern data warehouse such as Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks SQL, or similar. Redshift is a plus, not a requirement
• Interest in semantic modelling, KPI logic, or reusable business definitions. Cube, dbt, or LookML experience is a plus
• Curiosity about using AI and LLMs for SQL support, documentation, or data exploration
• Business curiosity and the ability to translate stakeholder questions into practical data solutions
• Commercial or financial curiosity. Familiarity with COGS, Gross Margin, accruals, or P&L logic is an advantage
• English fluency – written and spoken; our company language
• A degree in Data Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or equivalent practical experience
Why join Hobbii?
At Hobbii, you’ll join a tight-knit team building something genuinely global from Copenhagen. You’ll see the impact of your work across the business every week, with real opportunities to grow and take on more responsibility over time. We move fast, support each other, and have a lot of fun along the way.
We offer:
• Competitive salary based on experience and skills
• Flexible work setup – hybrid (HQ in Nordvest, Copenhagen)
• 6 weeks of paid vacation
• Health insurance and paid parental leave
• Catered lunch, great coffee, and lively Friday bars
• Legendary company events and a welcoming, informal culture
• A great staff discount on yarn
