They are now looking to add a Data Engineering Lead - a key role shaping the technical foundation behind a rapidly expanding global ecommerce platform. Hobbii is investing heavily in a modern data infrastructure where reliable data, well defined models and scalable pipelines are essential to both daily operations and long term growth.
About the role
As Data Engineering Lead, you will define the architectural direction for Hobbii’s data platform and ensure that their data ecosystem is robust, trusted and ready to scale. You will work strategically across the business to establish clear data definitions, consistent metrics and an infrastructure supporting forecasting, customer insights, inventory optimisation and operational excellence.
This is a senior role combining long term technical direction with hands on engineering depth. You will define standards, frameworks and roadmaps for data engineering while also stepping into complex modelling, pipeline work and troubleshooting when needed.
The role collaborates closely with commercial teams, product teams and Data AI specialists and plays a central part in how Hobbii uses data to operate smarter and grow faster.
Key responsibilities
Own the long-term architectural vision for Hobbii’s data platform ensuring scalability, reliability and clarity
Design and oversee implementation of modern ELT pipelines for systems such as Shopify, Odoo and Emarsys into AWS Redshift
Lead the development of well structured, documented data models using DBT ensuring consistency across teams
Build and champion a strong Data Quality and Governance framework with automated testing, monitoring and anomaly detection
Evaluate and integrate best in class SaaS solutions supporting a Buy before Build strategy
Drive engineering excellence through CI/CD, documentation standards, technical reviews and operational reliability
Partner closely with Customer Acquisition, Purchase Experience and Finance to provide the data foundations they need for decision making and optimization
Act as hands on contributor in critical designs, debugging or complex transformations
Ensure the data platform meets GDPR and international compliance requirements
Your profile
Hobbii is looking for a senior data engineer with strong architectural instincts and the ability to translate complex technical environments into clear strategies. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of long term planning and practical engineering and understands how reliable data fuels both operational precision and customer facing innovation
We imagine you bring:
6+ years of experience in data engineering preferably in a cloud based, high growth environment
Strong architectural understanding of scalable data ecosystems and modern ELT approaches
Deep experience with DBT, Python, SQL and cloud data warehouses Redshift preferred
Familiarity with orchestration and ingestion tools such as Airflow, Fivetran or Airbyte
Experience designing dimensional models and establishing clear analytical structures
A structured and pragmatic approach to CI/CD, testing, code quality and documentation
Strong communication skills with the ability to guide stakeholders through trade offs and long term implications
A calm and pragmatic leadership style able to create direction even when priorities shift or complexity is high
